
Further exploring old masters and bodies of their work,this time Vasily Kandinsky. Über das Geistige in der Kunst, and how he elucidated his artistic theories and his valuing of expression and spirituality over naturalistic representation. It also introduced his new pictorial categories derived from the field of music—impressions, improvisations, and compositions—which further de-emphasized the importance of recognizable subject matter.
While these feed from my machine textures and use of a library of drawn marks and shapes, they do not adhere to Kadinsky’s often simplified shapes and line to find the spirituality concept he sought, but more so in the depth of the composition and relationship between the size of the shapes and marks. Is this Celestial or Macro we are viewing and do different patterns of the animation and colours reflect the dimension in which we see the work.
